OUR STORY
WE'RE GETTING MARRIED (:
Julia and Dave first met while attending Elon University in North Carolina, but much of that time was spent as distant acquaintances between their overlapping friend groups. It wasn't until September 2013 that their mutual friend (and groomsman) Danny Powell set them up on a date, and since then, they haven't looked back. Much of the time between then and now has been spent long-distance; Boston, North Carolina, Grenada, South Korea, Chicago, New York, Michigan, California - they've all been called home base at one point by one of the two while apart. Through countless hours spent on FaceTime, exchanging dozens of letters & care packages, and multiple trips to visit each other, the couple continued to stay connected and committed to one another.
Finally, in July of 2017, Dave and Julia were officially reunited in Chicago, and have shared an apartment, friends, and the Ron&Ann Okada Sunday Dinner together since then. It's for that reason Chicago holds a special place of importance in their relationship - their first home together as a couple - and it was the obvious choice for where they would officially tie the knot and take their next step as husband and wife.
Consider this website your one-stop-shop for details on the event, including some advice and suggestions for how to make the most of your Labor Day Weekend in the "Chi". Julia and Dave are so excited to have you join them on their special day!

TRANSPORTATION
ACCOMMODATION
If you are traveling from out of town, you have two airports to choose from when flying in: O'Hare International Airport, or Midway. I-80, I-94, and I-55 are the major interstates to get into the city if you plan to drive.
Whether flying or driving, we strongly recommend that for the duration of your trip you utilize Chicago's excellent public transportation system, the CTA, as traffic is often slow and parking can be expensive. You can purchase a 3-day pass at $20 for use on any CTA train or bus. Uber, Lyft, and local taxis are also viable options.
For the wedding day, there will be no shuttle services provided, as it's being held in an easily accessible part of town. There will be no valet service at the museum, but there are many parking garages in the blocks surrounding the venue. Please feel free to get specific directions to the MCA by visiting their page here
We have reserved a block of rooms at two nearby hotels - both within walking distance of the wedding venue - for your convenience & pleasure! Ask for the Okada-Carroll Wedding block if you plan to stay at either hotel. There are a limited number of rooms available at the discounted rate, so please book early!
